Ad hoc open‑ended working group (OEWG) to prepare for the intergovernmental negotiating committee on plastic pollution and Multi-Stakeholder Dialogues as part of the OEWG, May 30-June 1, 2022

In resolution 5/14, UNEA-5.2 requested the UNEP Executive Director to convene an intergovernmental negotiating committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, based on a comprehensive approach that addresses the full life cycle of plastic. 

Also as part of resolution 5/14, the UNEP Executive Director is requested to convene an ad hoc open-ended working group to prepare for the work of the intergovernmental negotiating committee to end plastic pollution. This meeting will be held from 30 May to 1 June 2022 in Dakar, Senegal in a hybrid format. More information is here.
