UN reviews SDG 12 and other goals

UN Reviews SDG 12 - Changing production and consumption

NEW YORK, July 9, 2018 -- The High Level Political Forum (HLPF) opened today at the United Nations, where government delegations, policymakers, business leaders, NGOs and others will review global progress by countries in implementing six of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Of particular interest to ISF is the review of SDG 12 -- "ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns". A background paper (7 pages) on the status of progress towards SDG set the initial terms of the discussion.

UNEP held a side event entitled "Systems-thinking and policy planning for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SDG12): learning for impact across Agenda 2030."

Note that ISF played a role in advocating for the adoption of SDG 12 along with the other Sustainable Development Goals, including in the process leading up to the 2012 Conference on Sustainable Development, which in turn led to the UN adoption of the 2030 Agenda.
