Circular Economy and the Global South
One of the outcomes of the 2018 GRF conference in Brighton, UK is the book The Circular Economy and the Global South: Sustainable Lifestyles and Green Industrial Development, published by Earthscan/Routledge.
This book features chapters based on the many papers and presentations at the GRF-Brighton event, which addressed the integrative theme "Sustainable Lifestyles, Livelihoods and Circular Economy." One of ISF's contributions to the conference was the background paper on this theme, which in turn contributed to the Introduction of the current anthology.
The book describes circular economy as "a policy approach and business strategy that aims to improve resource productivity, promote sustainable consumption and production, and reduce environmental impacts." It "examines the relevance of the circular economy in the context of developing countries, something which to date is little understood."
