Program Objectives1. Raise the political priority of SPAC. 2. Promote monitoring, assessment and reporting 3. Encourage networking 4. Strengthen communications and knowledge exchange |
Hundreds
of organizations and individuals in the United States and around the
world are working on projects and programs promoting sustainable production
and consumption in its various forms, from local grassroots education
campaigns to national legislation to international agreements. Yet in
many cases these groups are not working together, linked by cross-sectoral
or transboundary strategies and communications, benefiting from shared
knowledge and political and/or economic support.
Recognizing this need, ISF has been working with a number of civil society networks to encourage and strengthen such collaboration, strategies and communications . Currently, ISF plays an active role with the following networks: the NGO Caucus on Sustainable Production and Consumption at the UN CSD, the SPAC Working Group of the Northern Alliance for Sustainability, ECO Forum's SPAC Issue Group, the SPAC Working Group of the Citizens Network for Sustainable Development, the North American Sustainable Consumption Alliance (NASCA), and the International Coalition for Sustainable Production & Consumption (ICSPAC), whose mission is to serve all these groups.
