2002

* Developed the International Coalition on Sustainable Production and Consumption that implemented the SPAC Watch initiative

* Produced the report Waiting for Delivery

* Organized three roundtables on sustainable production and consumption in the WSSD process

* Co-chaired NGO SPAC Caucus during WSSD process

* Helped organize the WSSD campaign for corporate accountability and raise the priority of corporate accountability as a sustainable development issue at the UN and during the WSSD

* Successfully facilitated the Citizens Preparatory Committee for WSSD (including: organized citizen consultation meetings with US delegation and US NGO strategy meetings, including the US NGO Caucus in Johannesburg; developed the Citizens Guide to the Summit website; organized the "US Progress Towards Sustainability" issue forum series; published the WSSD News; set up and operated the uscpc-news and uscpc-discuss listservers).

* Helped organize US NGO statements in Bali and Johannesburg.

* Issued press release on the civil society protest to the US government role during the WSSD

* Organized briefing on the Hill to inform and educate congressional staff on the significance of the World Summit and the undermining role of the US Administration there.

* Initiated post-WSSD strategy discussions for launch of CitNet's National Campaign for Leadership

* Produced US Watch/ National report card assessment of US progress towards sustainable development for the WSSD

* Organized 6 CitNet meetings in Washington DC, including 4 consultative meetings with the US government

* Produced and distributed NGO paper Addressing the Constraints to Implementing Agenda 21: A Challenge to North America and Europe

* Produced and presented at the ANPED vision paper for 2002, "Role and Responsibility of Northern Civil Society in Achieving Sustainability in the 21st Century"

* ISF moves to new home in Rockville, MD

* Produced SPAC Watch report Sustainable Production and Consumption of Food

* Began new role as the Secretariat of the Citizens Network for Sustainable Development (CitNet)

* Produced TOBI report The Next Thousand Years: Taking Responsibility for Our Behavior and Its Impact on Future Generations

* Organized a special ToBI Workshop on Corporate Codes and Voluntary Initiatives, held at the United Nations

* Organized a panel discussion on the OECD Guidelines, as part of the ToBI Workshop on Corporate Codes of Conduct and Voluntary Initiatives

* ISF receives 501(c)3 status, becoming an independent non-profit organization

* Sustainable Societies Initiative expands its membership and impact

* Produced the following papers (i) Promoting Integrative Strategies (the "hat" paper; also, shorter version published in Northern Lights) (ii) Sustainable Communities Movement (refers to Defining Sustainable Communities conference, PCSD Taskforce on Sustainable Communities, and Habitat 2) (iii) Alternative Information for Transnational Strategies:   NGOs, TNCs and the Quest for Just and Sustainable Societies (written to accompany presentation at ANPED workshop on TNCs).  (iv) Changing the System of Consumption & Production in the United States (for CAPSCAN meeting) (v) Education for Sustainable Communities in a Globalizing World (for ASU-Reynolds Foundation meeting) (vi) Mapping the Movement for Sustainable Livelihoods (for Istanbul workshop and publication in Earth Ethics ).

* Organized two workshops on sustainable communities and human settlements at CSD-4
