Survival in Freedom Foundation (SURFREE)


The Survival in Freedom Foundation (SURFREE), founded by John and Libby Morse n 1970, was originally created in response to the threats of nuclear proliferation and to foster the various forms of freedom in the world. During the course of its operations, SURFREE abetting more than one hundred organizations for broadened approaches in dealing with the various matters of population, economic and social justice development, and peace.

In addition, SURFREE was one of the founding forces in the birth and development of ISF. Bringing together a range of activists, funders, researchers and others to explore the possibilities of an organization specifically committed to fostering sustainability, justice and life quality, SURFREE asked Alisa Gravitz, Executive Director of Co-op America, to help build and nuture this new organization. In 1999, SURFREE encouraged ISF to obtain its own 501(c)3 status.

In 2005, after 35 years helping those trying to make the world a better place, SUFREE sadly closed its doors.
